The Shammas Group provided a special event venue in the Petroleum Building for Kid City Hope Place, a local youth leadership and college access program, which hosted an annual fundraiser called “Ultreya” on November 19, 2022. Kid City staff and students decorated the walls with big tissue paper flowers made by local high school student volunteers. Students, parents, volunteers, and donors came together to celebrate event honorees including Lowe’s Hometown Team, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, and LA Trade Tech professor, Marcela Oliva. These honorees helped Kid City create a beautiful new outdoor program space and lush garden where students can meet with tutors, mentors, and music instructors. The event raised over $10,000! Kid City is located a stone’s toss away from the Petroleum Building –one block west at 1021 Hope Street. The organization provides support for first-generation, low-income students who are applying for or in the process of completing their college education.
